Run 1: Santa 5k Stanwick Lakes

Got to Stanwick Lakes nice and early and had my photo taken on the start line. The sun was shining and it was nice and warm. Just as well, as some idiots had run off with some sign posts so we had to wait a while for the start whistle.

 
Had a nice roll in the mud to warm up whilst waiting for my number to be put on my coat. Met lots of new friends in the audience wishing me well and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer who galloped off into the distanced very early on.

After the delayed start I needed a quick toilet break just after we got round the first corner. Very inconvenient. Then just as I started to overtake the back markers, I found I needed another one so was at the back again. Luckily all the Santa suits were easy to see in the distance so I had something to chase when I got going again.

Half way round I was getting very hot so the coat had to come off. After another loo break I managed to make it all the way to the end without stopping and was the first (and only) dog across the finish line (I got very confused ‘cause the finish line said Start so I didn’t know if I was coming or going).

 
Glad to find a nice bowl of water waiting just for me at the end (thank you organisers). Very proud to show off my medal. 1 run down, only another 11 to go! Still waiting for the official race results so I don’t know my official time but unofficially it was 39min41
